Festival Sonic Transmissions in Austin

One year ago, Pedro Moreno and I invited the amazing Carmelo Torres y sus Toscos from Colombia to play my festival Sonic Transmissions in Austin. They played for elementary school kids, and college students and gave us an amazing concert. It was one of the most challenging and difficult things to put on (bureaucracy, etc.) but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences in years of presenting music in Austin. I am so happy to that I got to know these musicians and to connect with the wonderful creative community in Bogota. Thanks to Pedro for the experience! and to Maestro Carmelo TorresSantiago BoteroJuan David CastañoPedro OjedaEnrique MendozaMario Galeano Toro for the music and friendship! Que viva la Cumbia Sabanera!!!

Austin Chronicle and Michael Toland for the last album MOROSE by The Young Mothers!

Thanks for the kind words from Austin Chronicle and Michael Toland for the last album MOROSE by The Young Mothers!

“On paper, it all sounds too eclectic for its own good, but the musicians’ deep understanding and virtuosity pull fierce focus on Morose.”

We will be touring Texas in two weeks, come see us fresh off of two rocking European festival gigs!!

Heading back to Austin after a month on the road that ended with 5 amazing days in Marfa, Texas! Huge thanks to Britt and Rob Mazurek for putting together an amazing festival and for taking so good care of us!!! It was an absolute blast to play with the Desert Encrypt quartet together with Rob, Kris Davis and Chad Taylor, and to get the chance to really dig deep into Rob’s amazing musical (and visual) universe!!! And Marfa is nothing less than magical! Music and art all around 24/7. Thank you everyone for making this days so very very special!!
